Check Out These Great Ways to Become a Boater

Follow These Simple Suggestions to Begin Your Boating Hobby

Raritan Engineering Company your toilet macerator specialists would like to share with you these topics we thought would be of interest to you this month regarding great ways to become a boater.

It’s one thing to interpret a navigational marker from a desk chair. It’s another to do so in the glaring light of day, with vessels moving in every direction, at 20 mph.

Don’t Be Intimidated

Sure, it’s a 3,000-pound, three-dimensional arrowhead cutting through a watery landscape with who-knows-what below the water line. (Crab pots! Oyster bars! Sunken boats!) Your toilet macerator experts talk about how boating is nothing to be taken lightly. But consider this: every day we get into metal machines and fly in formation only a few feet apart at 70 miles per hour.

Take a Boater Education Course

America’s Boating Course (ABC) is designed and administered by the U.S. Power Squadrons. It’s a six-part course (getting started, navigation rules, government regulations, finding your way, communications and watersports safety, trailering and PWC operation) built around a 287-page manual that covers 236 individual topics.

They are moot questions, because ultimately you are responsible for your vessel and passengers, so it’s critical that you study and comprehend all the information. Your toilet macerator suppliers talk about how it’s better to know it and not need it than the other way around.

Take an On-the-Water Course

It’s one thing to interpret a navigational marker from a desk chair. It’s another to do so in the glaring light of day, with vessels moving in every direction, at 20 mph.

The class is often hosted at a boat show. I took mine at the Miami International Boat Show. After going through the pre-departure checklist, my instructor and I took a Cobia 220 CC powered by a Yamaha 250 out onto Biscayne Bay for a morning of pivot turns, backing up, taking wakes, docking, and cruising the Intracoastal Waterway. Go to boatus.org/on-water for classes/events in your area.

Get to Know a Boater

Beginner boaters need time on the water. The fastest way to get that experience is by having your own boat. The bridge between them might just be the mariner in your office or down the street. Your toilet macerator distributors talk about how chances are you know a boater, and that person is looking for an excuse to get out on the water. So give them an incentive. Offer to bring lunch. Buy bait. Pay for fuel. Help clean the boat at the marina or boat launch.

Rent Before You Own

If you’re not ready to buy a boat, there are a couple solid options for getting seat time on a budget. Freedom Boat Club (FBC) is a boat-sharing service that provides an alternative to ownership. A one-time entry fee (rack rate is $5,900 per year) plus monthly dues provides unlimited access to the club fleet. (FBC has more than 2,000 late model boats, with 170 franchise and club locations throughout the United States and Canada.) Just make a reservation, and the boat will be waiting at the dock. No cleaning, no maintenance, no storage. The only out-of-pocket expense is fuel.

So don't forget these great tips for becoming an expert boater. 1) Don't be intimidated;  2) take a boater education course;  3) take an on-the-water course;  and 4) rent before you own.

Incredible Footage Shows Humpback Whale Bursting Through The Sea Next To Fishing Boat

This incredible video shows the moment a humpback whale bursts through the calm sea, much to the surprise of a passing fisherman.

Put your hand up if you'd have shit yourself, had you been in this fella's shoes... most of us, right?

Taken by photographer Douglas Croft, 60, and whale watcher Kate Cummings, the footage shows the whale shooting up through the waves close to a boat carrying an unsuspecting fisherman before it crashes back down.

The breach was right behind the boat. Credit: Douglas Croft/Caters

"That the breach was directly behind the fishing boat makes really shows the size. Since the boat is closer, it should look bigger, but the whale is huge! If I'd been the fisherman, I'd probably need some new underwear."

Nice to know Douglas is on the same wavelength as us. Yep, 'wave' length. Because it's in the water. Nope, I'm not even sorry.

Kate, who took the video said: "It was fun capturing this video. The whale had already breached multiple times much further away from the fisherman.

Despite the disaster, the whale swam down and grabbed the device to bring it back to the surface for her.
